چکیده
Methanol is one of the most important chemical feedstocks, with an increase in global demand more than 20 million tonnes since 2017. The current production methanol primarily from fossil fuel derived synthetic gas (syngas), producing up to 2.97 CO2 per tonne methanol. direct electrochemical reduction reaction (eCO2RR), i. e. systems which reduced at cathode coupled oxygen evolution anode, attractive approaches for decarbonising production, using renewable energy sources as power source. In this review, we critically discuss progress and challenges associated eCO2RR methanol, aim addressing question whether approach can provide a feasible route decarbonisation key commodity.

Electrochemical Reduction of Carbon Dioxide to Methanol by Direct Injection of Electrons into Immobilized Enzymes on a Modified Electrode
We present results for direct bio-electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 to C1 products using electrodes with immobilized enzymes. Enzymatic reduction reactions are well known from biological systems where CO2 is selectively reduced to formate, formaldehyde, or methanol at room temperature and ambient pressure. In the past, the use of such enzymatic reductions for CO2 was limited due to the necessit...
متن کاملElectrochemical and flow characterization of a direct methanol fuel cell
Two-phase phenomena, i.e. bubble flow in the anode and water flooding in the cathode, are critical to design of high-performance direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC). A 5 cm2 transparent DMFC has been developed to visualize these phenomena in situ. Two types of membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) based on Nafion® 112 were used to investigate effects of backing pore structure and wettability on cell ...
متن کاملAssessment of Electrochemical Methods for Methanol Crossover Measurement through PEM of Direct Methanol Fuel Cell
It is important to have accurate, reliable, and convenient techniques for determining the methanol crossover rate through the polymer electrolyte membranes of fuel cells. In this work, various electrochemical techniques, namely; cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and potentiometry, have been used to measure the methanol crossover rates using Nafion 117 membrane. The purpose of using differen...
متن کاملCan We Investigate Direct Time Reversal Violation?
We illustrate a theoretical condition under which a two-body decay of a resonance violates time reversal invariance. Moreover, we examine some cases for which this condition looks particularly simple. As a consequence, we deduce tests of time reversal violation for weak decays involving spinning particles. متن کاملMethanol production by Mycobacterium smegmatis.
Mycobacterium smegmatis cells produce [3H]methanol when incubated with [methyl-3H]methionine. The methanol is derived from S-adenosylmethionine rather than methyltetrahydrofolate. M. smegmatis cells carboxymethylate several proteins, and some of the methanol probably results from their demethylation, but most of the methanol may come from an unidentified component with a high gel mobility. Alth...
